Abstract

Sulphur chloride of correct boiling point is produced continuously by passing chlorine into molten sulphur in vacuo, and condensing the distillate. Sulphur is added periodically and the quantity of chlorine and the vacuum are regulated so as to give a light yellow product. A chlorine carrier such as iron, iodine, or iron chloride may be employed.
