Abstract
Mono- and di-arylarsine chlorides are obtained by heating triarylarsines with arsenic trichloride at ordinary pressures; or a triarylarsine may be used with a monoarylarsine dichloride to obtain a diarylarsine monochloride, or a diarylarsine monochloride may react with arsenic trichloride to obtain a monoarylarsine dichloride. The mixture, with or without a solvent, may be passed through a heated tube to effect reaction. In examples the production of mixtures of diphenylarsine monochloride with monophenylarsine dichloride by heating triphenylarsine with arsenic trichloride and distilling the product is described; if the arsenic chloride is introduced slowly at the bottom of the retort containing the heated triphenylarsine, distillation is unnecessary. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 142,880.
