Abstract

1399076 Coil formers SIEMENS AG 11 Sept 1973 [25 Sept 1972] 42605/73 Heading B8M In a coil former comprising a tag flange 3 provided with tags 2 for forming electrical connections to the wire ends 5 of a coil, the coil former 1 and the tag flange 3 are connected by spring coupling elements, e.g. arms 4, by means of which the relative positions of the coil former 1 and the tag flange 3 can be charged between two stable states, the tags 2 in one of these stable states lying outside the planes limiting the winding space on the coil former 1 in an axial direction. The arms 4 extend from a flange 7 on the former and in both stable states, the longitudinal sides of the arms lie substantially in the surface of a truncated cone. The coil former, arms and tag flange are preferably formed as a one-piece plastics body. In operation, a coil 8 is wound on the coil former 1 whilst the former 1 and flange 3 are in the first stable state (Fig. 1). The ends of the coil 8 are attached to the tags 2 and the coil former pushed at least partly into a recess in the flange 3 to adapt the second stable state (Fig. 2), in which the tension in the wire ends 5 is relieved. Two arms 4 are shown, but more may be provided distributed equidistantly around the flange 7. In a further embodiment, a further tag flange may be attached to the flange 6 of the coil former 1 by spring arms.
