Abstract

1395439 Hollow-plate heat exchangers COMPANIA ROCA-RADIADORES SA 28 June 1973 30833/73 Heading F4S A heat exchange element, a plurality of which are assembled face-to-face to form a unit for a boiler, comprises a hollow plate of generally rectangular outline and preferably of cast iron, with coupling means 4 at least at two opposite corners thereof for conveying fluid to be heated (water) to and from the interior of the hollow plate, and flanges 7 extending along two opposite side edges of the hollow plate and defining in an assembly of the plates the side walls of gas passages 5 between adjacent plates. Flanges 7 may be on both major surfaces of the hollow plate as shown in Fig. 4, or they may be of greater height and extend from one major surface only, of said plate. In the plate shown a projecting boss is provided at each corner the bosses 3 merely serving, as spacers, and the bosses 4 having internally threaded bores 6 to receive coupling elements between adjacent plates Integral fins in the form of studs 8 project from the walls 1 of the hollow plate into the gas passages 5.
