Abstract
1,116,620. Plate heat exchangers. ASSOCIATED ENGINEERING Ltd. 24 March, 1965 [27 Dec., 1963], No. 42669/67. Divided out of 1,007,676. Heading F4S. A heat exchanger comprises a series of spaced - apart members each made of metal foil not more than 0À012 inch thick, preferably aluminium. Each member comprises a pair of sheets bonded together face-to-face by an adhesive, preferably a heat curable adhesive, and at least one of the sheets is channelled whereby a passage or passages 4 for a first fluid are formed within the elements. In the spaces between adjacent elements and bonded thereto by an adhesive, are disposed zig-zag fins 8 also of metal foil. A second fluid flows over the fins. The fins may have louvres, perforations or dimples formed therein and the assembly may be completed by side walls 9 and apertured tube plates, all parts being bonded together by an adhesive.
