Abstract

1395084 Lifting frames MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURG-NURNBERG 1 Aug 1972 [3 Aug 1971] 35778/72 Heading B8H A lifting frame 1, which in use is attached to a crane (not shown) by means of cables (5) which engage with pulleys (4) mounted in brackets (3) on the upper surface of the frame, Fig. 1 (not shown), includes a pair of tongs 7 each consisting of two tongs arms 9 mounted thereon, each tongs arms 9 comprising a horizontal portion 9a and a downwardly directed load engagement portion 9b and being rotatable about a vertical axis defined by a pivot bolt 11 for engagement with the side of a slab to be lifted, said rotation of the tongs arms 9 being effected by means of blocks 18 which engage with rollers 9c on the inner ends of the tongs arms 9, the blocks 18 being slidable relative to the frame 1 under the action of a ram 16 having piston rods 17, each rod having a piston. Pressure medium to the ram 16 is supplied by an electro-hydraulic or hydraulic pressure medium producer. Instead of the ram 16 the arms 9 can be rotated by means of two spindles, shafts or worms (not shown) which are connected to an electric motor by means of gearing, and pull straps may be used instead of the blocks 18. In a further embodiment, Figs. 4, 5 (not shown), a further pair of tongs (7<SP>1</SP>) is aranged externally of the pair (7), the tongs (7<SP>1</SP>) being connected to the tongs (7) by means of connecting rods (19).
