1379483 Jib cranes G FUCHS and U THIERER 10 Jan 1972 [14 Jan 1971] 1048/72 Heading B8B The jib of a jib crane comprises two arm structures 6, 7 each with one end pivotally mounted about spaced horizontal axes 4, 5, the other ends of the arm structures 6, 7 being pivoted at 10 at an acute angle. The upper arm structure 7 comprises a substantially plane frame with its axis 5 in the plane of the frame which is adapted to take up only tractive forces and forces substantially normal to the vertical plane passing through both arm structures 6, 7. The lower arm structure 6 is telescopically adjustable to different lengths and is adapted to take up only compressive force. As shown a power drive for varying the length of the lower arm structure 6 to luff the jib is formed by an hydraulic piston and cylinder unit 15.
