Abstract
1394528 Presenting weft; gripper shuttles VEREINIGTE OSTERREICHISCHE EISENUND STAHLWERKE ALPINE MONTAN AG and ETAB WANDERFIELD & CO 7 Aug 1973 [18 Aug 1972] 37398/73 Heading DIE A gripper shuttle 1 comprises a gripper 4 formed from the arms of a U-spring projecting laterally of the shuttle, towards the fell, which arms are opened by a flat member 6, to which are fixed crossed rods 10, 11, which is rotated by stops 5, 5' on the shuttle race 3 as the shuttle enters and leaves the shed, weft being presented through a tube 15 surrounded by a tubular nozzle 16 through which air is blown. The two stops 5, 5' act each on a respective cross member 10 or 11. The arms of gripper spring 4 have apertures 20 to guide the air stream from the presented and the insides of the arms have grooves which interengage as teeth to grip the weft. The shuttle 1 runs on rollers 2 and is guided by projections 12 on the side of the shuttle race over which a member 13 on the side of the shuttle engages. The presenter tubes 15 positioned on both sides of the shed may be pivotable by a connection to weft shears positioned at the side of the shed, to move the weft arm out of the path of the shuttle grippers, when the shuttle arrives. The stops 5, 5' and presenter tube 15 are adjustable along the shuttle race.
