Abstract

1389151 Lifting slings PARSONS CHAIN CO Ltd 26 June 1973 30231/73 Heading B8B A chain sling adjusting device comprises a main frame 1 and an auxiliary frame 3 mounting a pocketed wheel 5 of cruciform shape and provided with a lifting eye 10 for a crane hook, the auxiliary frame 3 being free to slide in the main frame 1 but loaded by a spring 15. When under load, as shown, the spring 15 is compressed and stops 25 mounted on a pin 16 attached to the auxiliary frame 3 enter the lower pocket of the wheel 5 to lock it and the chain in position. Should the load not be balanced when lifted, the operator takes the weight off the device by lowering the load thus allowing the spring 15 to move the stops 25 clear of the wheel 15 which is then free to rotate as the operator traverses the crane hook to equalize the chain to obtain a level pick-up.
