Abstract

1388891 Knitting machines UNIVERSAL MASCHINENFABRIK DR RUDOLF SCHIEBER KG 24 Feb 1972 [11 March 1971] 8584/72 Heading D1C Cam parts 1, 2 in the lock of a flat knitting machine are displaceable mechanically against springs 5, 6 or the like to positions where they are held by means 17, 18 actuated by electromagnets 19, 20 the mechanical force having no component in the direction of the electromagnet's stroke. Bolts 3, 4 carrying cams 1, 2 each have a pin 7, 8 which engages the arm 9 of a pivoted lever 10 whose other end engages a cam 12 on the machine. Lever 10 moves the bolts against springs 5, 6 until grooves 15, 16 thereon are engaged by spring loaded bolts 17, 18 actuated by electromagnets 19, 20. If when lever 11 releases pins 7, 8 a bolt is not retained by its bolt 17, 18, the associated cam is moved by its spring 5, 6 to operative position. In another embodiment, cams 24, 25 directly fastened to the needle bed replace cam 12 and lever 10.
