Abstract

1388623 Constant-tension spring-unit pipe supports PIPE SUPPORTS Ltd 5 March 1973 [18 March 1972 18 May 1972] 12785/72 and 10445/73 Divided out of 1388624 Heading F2S For supporting a load such as a pipe, e.g. by an eyebolt and turnbuckle assembly 42, a lever 12 consisting of two spaced plates 13 is pivoted (by stub shafts 14) on a fixed frame 10 between a pair of spaced plates 11 of the frame parallel to the lever plates 13, there being spring means 33a, 33b, 34 connected (by a drawbar 16) to the lever 12 by means such as a shaft 19 which can be adjusted (moved vertically) to vary the moment arm of the spring means about the pivot 14, the degree of adjustment being indicated by two pointer-and-scale combinations 50, 52 each visible through an aperture 53 in one or the other of the frame plates 11, each pointer 50 being provided on a lever plate 13 or, as shown, on an indicating element 47 extending from the adjustment means 19 and each scale provided on an element 47 or, as shown, on a lever plate 13. The two elements 47 provide extensions 48 bent around the edges of the lever plates 13 to present their ends as pointers 50. The adjustment shaft 19, on which the spring drawbar 16 is pivoted at 17, is guided for longitudinal movement between the plates of the lever 12 by guide block portions 28a, 28b as described in Specification 1,388,624. By turning the head 26 of a bolt 21 captive in a member 23 (welded across the lowest edges of the lever 12) and in screwthreaded engagement with the bottom end of the shaft 19, the latter is raised or lowered to move the pivot 17. The top edges of the lever 12 is toothed as indicated so that it may be locked in position as described in Specification 1,373,173 when rerequired. Means 54 for indicating the travel of the load attachment means 42, as described in Specification 1,388,063, are provided.
