Abstract
1,018,510. Indicating load electrically. POTSCHKA ENTERPRISES Inc. Nov. 15, 1962, No. 43268/62. Heading G1N. A load indicator, e.g. for a vehicle, includes a reference member 11 movable in response to load variations, an indicator-activating member 16 which can be operatively connected to the reference member so as to move into a predetermined relationship therewith, irrespective of the position of the reference member, circuit-varying means 20 actuated by movement of member 16, and an indicator 19 indicating the change in circuit-varying means 20. Housing 8 is mounted on the vehicle frame 6 and coil 11 is angularly adjusted through linkage 9, 14 attached to the vehicle axle or spring member. Coil 16, which is rotatable relative to coil 11, carries the slider of a potentiometer 20 and is normally biased to a reference position by spring 21. To obtain a load indication both coils are energized, whereupon coil 16 becomes parallel with coil 11, and its position, and hence the load, is indicated by a meter connected to the photentiometer. The total load on all four wheels may be determined by connecting the associated potentiometers in series. An additional potentiometer is provided for zero-setting. The length of linkage arm 14 may be adjustable to vary the sensitivity at one wheel compared with that at another.
