Abstract

765,689. Protective cut-out arrangements. CHAMBERLAIN & HOOKHAM, Ltd., DEACON, L. O., and LEWIS, H. S. March 23, 1955 [April 15, 1954], No. 11129/54. Class 38(5) A protective system for apparatus 3 comprises a motor 1 fed with load current through a current transformer 2 so that the speed of the motor varies with the load on the apparatus, the motor spindle being connected to a sun wheel 5 of a differential by a pinion 4. The other sun wheel 6 of the differential is connected to a variable resistance brake. The planet pinion 11 of the differential is carried by an arm on a spindle 12 anchored to a coiled spring 13,. which may be compensated by a bi-metal, an indicator 15 connected to the spindle moves across a scale 16 whereby co-operating contacts on the indicator and scale open a circuit-breaker or operate a warning signal. In another embodiment (Fig. 3), the differential is replaced by a spring 27 interconnecting the motor-driven shaft 25 and brake shaft 28, one indicator part 30 being provided on the latter and the other, 32, on the pinion 24 driving the shaft 25.
