Abstract

1,175,119. Battery testing. GENERAL MOTORS CORP. Dec.21, 1967 [Jan.3, 1967], No.58089/67. Heading G1U. An indicator system providing output readings representing conditions in a vehicle battery supply circuit incorporates a meter 18 with shunt and series resistors 14, 24 respectively so connected with the battery and its external load 28 as to measure current when the load is connected and voltage under no load conditions. A further shunt comprising a negative coefficient thermistor 16 is arranged to respond to the battery temperature and is so selected in conjunction with the other component values in the indicator system, that the meter readings will be compensated to eliminate variations in the indication due to voltage changes resulting solely from variations in ambient temperature at the battery.
