Abstract

1288886 Measuring vehicle loads electrically I M BRUNT 19 April 1971 [22 Jan 1970] 3104/70 Heading G1N A load cell to be fitted at each end of both axles of a motor vehicle comprises a rotary variable resistor in a casing 11, Fig.1, assembled to the body 12 of the vehicle, the spindle.14 of the resistor protruding through the casing and attached by a piano wire 15 to the axle 17, whereby the part load of the vehicle at this location alters the vertical distance between the axle and the body and moves the slides of the resistor by an amount indicative of the load. The four variable resistors S2-S5, Fig.2, are connected in a measuring circuit with a multipole switch 20 enabling the individual loads and the total load to be measured.
