Abstract

1388624 Constant-tension spring-unit supports, e.g. for pipes PIPE SUPPORTS Ltd 21 May 1973 [18 May 1972] 23401/72 Heading F2S In an arrangement like that described in Specification 1,388,623 and for supporting a load such as a pipe, e.g. by an eyebolt and turnbuckle assembly (42), a lever 12, i.e. two spaced plates 13, is pivoted (by stub shafts 14) between a pair of spaced plates 11 of a fixed frame 10, there being spring means 33a, 33b, 34 connected (by draw bar 16) to the lever 12 by a (vertical) shaft 19 which can be adjusted (moved vertically to vary the moment arm of the spring means about the pivot 14, the shaft being guided by blocks 28 received in adjacent slots and recesses 29, 30 in the lever plates 13 and shaft 19 respectively, the blocks 28 being secured, e.g. by welding, to shaft 19 or, as shown, to the plates 13. There are two longitudinally-spaced blocks (28a, 28b) aligned in each of two opposed slots of the shaft 19. Between the blocks, in each lever plates 13, an aperture 32 provides space for the insertion of a pivot pin 17 interconnecting the spring draw bar 16 and the adjustment shaft 19. A bolt (21), captive in a member (23) welded across the lowest edges of the lever 12 and in screwthreaded engagement with the bottom end of the shaft, is turned to raise or lower the pivot 17 with the shaft 19. The degree of adjustment is indicated by at least one pointer 50 and scale 52 as described in Specification 1,388,623. The top edges of the lever 12 is toothed so that it may be locked in position as described in Specification 1,373,173 when required. There are means 56, 57 for indicating the travel of the load attachment means (42), as described in Specification 1,388,063.
