1385964 Gas tube supply circuits HANS VON MANGOLDT TRANSFORMATORENFABRIK KG 8 Feb 1972 [11 Feb 1971 30 Aug 1971] 5728/72 Heading H2H [Also in Divisions H1 and G3] A system for supplying a gas discharge tube 22 comprises a transformer 10 having a high leakage reactance of the order of 10-30% and operating under saturation conditions, the core 16 of the transformer having an air gap 18 therein, and a capacitor 20 which may be variable, connected in series between the secondary winding 14 of the transformer 10 and the tube 22, the system operating as a constant current supply for the tube 22. The secondary winding may be divided into two or more sections, in series with each section is connected a capacitor so that two or more tubes may be supplied or one tube from the two or more circuits in parallel. Alternatively the secondary winding as a whole may have two or more capacitors connected thereto so as to be able to supply one, or two or more, tubes.
