1385626 Stop motions; piecing devices PALITEX PROJECT-CO GmbH 1 Oct 1973 [5 April 1973] 45796/73 Heading DID A travelling servicing carriage 4 is positioned opposite a twisting or spooling station by a moveable resiliently loaded locking component 14 on the carriage which co-operates with a location locking component 24 on the machine frame. One of the locking components is a roller 14 and the other locking component comprises crossing guide tracks 24 disposed longitudinally of the machine on either side of a recess or valley which may receive the roller. As shown, the guide tracks may have outer, oppositely inclined sections and be mounted on the carriage for pivotal movement into the path of a stationary roller by a pneumatic cylinder 20. In Fig. 2 (not shown), the guide tracks are formed on separate pivoted arms, each movable into the path of a roller by an associated pneumatic cylinder. In Fig. 7 (not shown) the roller is mounted on a pivoted arm on the travelling carriage and is swung into the path of a guide track fixed to the machine frame. The locking components may be brought into operable association upon detection of a yarn break at the twisting or spooling station by a manually operated lever (28), Fig. 1 not shown, or by a sensing device on the carriage. The sensing device, Fig. 4 not shown, may comprise a series of slots (36) at each station which are uncovered when a yarn break occurs. A back-pressure switch (32, 34) detects when the slot (36) is uncovered and the locking components are brought into operation and the carriage driving motor is switched off. A spindle brake may be applied when the slot (36) is uncovered. The carriage may carry a yarn knotter (7) and a 2:1 twisting spindle positioning device.
