Abstract

138,485. Savage, G. H. March 31, 1919. Universal couplings. - A flexible-ring coupling is provided with a central ball- and-socket joint in which there is no metal-to-metal contact to prevent the coupling from running out of truth. The surface of the ball f, or socket e, is formed of non-metallic material such as rubber, leather, &c. to prevent noise, and one of the spiders such as c, Fig. 1, may be bolted to the shaft to facilitate removal. In the form shown in Fig. 4, the socket e is formed in a central spider n bolted to one of the spiders c.
