Abstract

Universal joints.- The ends of two shafts 10, 11, coupled by a universal joint of the flexible-disk pipe, are also connected by a ball-and-socket joint 24, 25, or by a ball engaging spherical sockets in the ends of the shafts, and the flexible disk 15 is caused to draw the ends of the shafts 10, 11 together to retain the spherical surfaces in contact.
