Abstract

1383963 Smoke-generating devices PAINSWESSEX Ltd 4 July 1973 [4 April 1972] 15517/72 Heading F3A A Very pistol cartridge comprises a buoyant container 2 which contains smoke generating pellets 4 and a delay fuse 7 exposed at one end 6 to an ejection charge 3 in a cartridge casing 1. A smoke outlet 15 is located in a portion of the casing which will be above the water when the easing floats. The ejecting charge is ignited by electrical or percussive means 21. A gunpowder pellet 8 ignites the smoke pellets. An opening 14 prevents build up of pressure in the container 2 due to gases from the fuse 7.
