Abstract

1383221 Valves; pipe couplings ZIMMERMANN & JANSEN GmbH 10 March 1972 [10 March 1971] 11240/72 Headings F2V and F2G A gate valve for hot gases, e.g. from a blast furnace has the end connecting flanges 2, 3 disposed at a small angle α to one another to facilitate removable of the valve from between the ends of two pipes. The angle is 1-5 degrees but preferred range is 1 ‹ 30'-1‹ 45'. Preferably the flanges are symmetrically disposed at an angle α/2 with respect to the plane containing the gate 18 which is moved by pistoncylinders 28, 29, 30, 31 pivotally connected to the casing at 25 and a yoke 21 attached to a valve stem 19. The casing is cooled by fluid passing through conduits 15, 5, 7, 8, 1, 6 and 14 and has a fire-proof brick lining 4. The gate may also be cooled through conduits 20.
