Abstract

138,249. Giusti, T. May 22, 1919. Separating by gravity. -Liquid fuel on its way to a carburettor is caused to pass slowly in a sinuous path and over the sharp edges of tubes in order that foreign matter may be intercepted and separated therefrom. A chamber c has a depending well c in which foreign matter may colled and is closed by plugs in which the inlet and outlet passages a, b respectively are formed. The. inlet bore is continued by a sharp-edged tube F which is surrounded by a larger sharp-edged tube H on the plug containing the outlet bore. The chamber c communicates with the outlet b through several small ducts o located in the upper half of said chamber, which therefore serves as a trap' for foreign matter.
