Abstract

1381322 Cleaning fluidised bed support plates NIRO ATOMIZER AS 4 April 1972 [15 April 1971] 15543/72 Heading B1F [Also in Division F4] A fluidising plate is cleaned by upward jets of gas from a tube mounted below the plate for movement in a plane parallel to the plate. In Fig. 1, the tube 15 carries oblique nozzles 16, and is carried by a hollow shaft 17 received in a sleeve 18 and rotated by a hydraulic motor 19, the sleeve 18 being connected to a gas inlet 22 and the shaft 17 having apertures 21. Powder is dried by recirculation of the fluidising gas (e.g. air or nitrogen) via cyclone 13 and heater 14. Powder from the inlet 5 is fluidised and passes around a spiral guide 8 to the outlet 9. In Fig. 3 (not shown), upper and lower fluidising plates are provided and no recirculation of the fluidising gas is employed, and hence only the upper plate is cleaned by a rotatable tube 15 driven by a rotor 19 above the upper plate, and having nozzles 16 or apertures. In Figs. 4 one (or more) rectangular fluidising plates across which the powder moves, are cleaned by a tube 35 provided with nozzles or holes 36 supplied with gas by a flexible pipe 40 and reciprocated along rails 39 below the plate by a fluid-operated telescopic assembly 41-45. The cleaning tube may be supplied intermittently with gas.
