Abstract
1,027,622. Pneumatic conveyers. CENTRAL ELECTRICITY GENERATING BOARD, and D. H. LUCAS. May 9, 1962 [Feb. 9, 1961], No. 4941/61. Heading B8A. Pneumatic apparatus for loosening granular material 2, Fig. 1, in a bunker 1 comprises a pair of concentric tubes 10, 11, the inner tube 11 being supplied with pressurized gas and having at least one opening which is alternately opened and closed by relative movement between the tubes. Orifices in the outer tube 10 may be arranged as opposed pairs of short outlet pipes 12, Fig. 4 (not shown), directing the flow generally downwardly. A number of orifices may be arranged at different heights and are unevenly spaced so that the height at which air is introduced may be controlled. The tube 11 is reciprocated by a screw device 21 driven from an electric motor 20 mounted on a gantry carriage 8 with tracks 4, 5 so that the position of the tubes may be traversed in the bunker 1. In modifications the tube 11 may have a rotary or oscillatory movement. The carriage 8 may also run on a single rail which extends all round the bunker.
