Abstract
1381126 Vapour power plant SUNDSTRAND CORP 5 July 1972 [6 July 1971] 31360/72 Headings F1Q and F1T A power plant operating on the Rankine cycle comprises a source of organic feed liquid, a main heater 12 for raising the temperature and pressure of the feed liquid by out of contact heat exchange with combustion gases, a turbine 14 connected to receive hot fluid from the heater, a regenerator 15 connected to receive vapour from the turbine, the regenerator being adapted to pre-heat at least a portion of the feed liquid by out of contact heat exhange with vapour from the turbine and an economizer 42 for pre-heating at least a portion of the feed liquid by out of contact heat exchange with the combustion gases from the main heater thereby reducing the combustion gas exit temperature. The feed liquid is preferably toluene. As shown the plant includes means 44 for directing a minor portion of the feed liquid to the economizer and means 70 for combining the pre-heated feed liquid from the economizer and the pre-heated feed liquid from the regenerator and directing the combined liquid to the main heater. Means 85 are provided for conveying condensate from a condenser 16 to a hot well 18 for the feed liquid and means 22, 25 are provided for recycling feed liquid from the hot well.
