Abstract
1380412 Awnings for use with vehicles L T PARKER 17 Jan 1972 [13 Jan 1971] 1648/71 Heading B7B An awning 4, for use with vehicles, extends from a container 2 attached to a vehicle roof rack 1, the awning including a rigid rail 5 provided with sockets 6 and 6<SP>1</SP> receiving supports 7, 71 mounted in sockets 10 of plates 9, 9<SP>1</SP>. Wheels 11, 11<SP>1</SP> of the vehicle rest on the plates in use. Stretcher rods 12, 12<SP>1</SP> maintain the awning under tension in use. A spring-loaded spindle 13 winds up the awning when not in use. The container 2 has a compartment 15 for carrying the supports 7, 7<SP>1</SP> and plates 9, 9<SP>1</SP> when not in use. The awning includes side, front and rear walls 18 and 19, 20 and 17, the walls 18 and 19 being attached to the rods 12 and 12<SP>1</SP> and the wall 20 being suspended by rings (25), Fig. 6 (not shown), from the rail 5. The front wall 20 has sections 20a, 20b joined by a sliding clasp fastener, while a flap 20 extends along the top edges of these sections and walls 17 and 19 to reduce draughts. The walls are rolled around a second spring-urged roller (23), Fig. 6 (not shown) when not in use.
