Abstract

Self-supporting modular seat/bunk units, particularly for public transport vehicles, are constructed independently of the vehicles thereby facilitating production. A bunk unit consists of a self-supporting structure comprising two parallel L-shaped lateral vertical structural elements linked to one another by beams (5, 6, 7) and/or a vertical back (20). The distance between the lateral elements corresponds to the length of bunks (8, 9), pivoted to said elements (at 10, 11). A seat assembly (12, 13) pivoted to side plates (15) on bunk (9) folds from the full line position to the broken line position while roller (16) runs down ramp (17), as bunk (9) is lowered for use. Two such units formed as a single structure, may be located back-to-back. <IMAGE>
