Abstract

1379700 Chucks F WEBER 23 Aug 1973 [23 Oct 1972] 39926/73 Heading B3B A clamp nut and collet for a chuck 1 comprises a collet 2 wherein is formed a circumferential groove 21, and a clamp nut 3 which has an internally projecting eccentrically disposed flange 31 extending over a portion of the internal periphery and locating in the groove 21, whereby the collet can be positively retained in the nut. The internally projecting ridge 31 can be formed by eccentrically boring out a previously formed annular ridge to form a crescent-shaped ridge 31, or by welding a cross piece into a previously machined slot (Figs. 4 and 5, not shown). The nut 3 may be an externally threaded annulus (Fig. 6, not shown).
