Abstract

The nose of the machine has screw thread of trapezoidal form on its outer diameter. Over this is screwed a locking ring (5) with a corresponding inner thread. The taper shank tool holder is passes through the central hole in the ring to fit in a bore in the spindle nose (1). Two open ended flat bottom recesses are in the tool holder flange, diametrically opposing, and fitting over driving dogs on the spindle nose. The holder is gripped by two similar, but narrower, projections (6) on the locking ring inner diameter. To remove the holder, these projections are positioned over the driving dogs.
