Abstract

1342470 Chucks STAVELEY INDUSTRIES Ltd 19 April 1971 [22 Dec 1969] 62210/69 Heading B3B A machine-tool spindle or chuck has means for holding a tool or tool-holder 20, the holding means including a socket and a number of radially-movable pins 19 which can project into the socket, and release means. As shown, the pins 19 are actuated by respective wedges 21 which can be urged axially; in one direction of their movement wedges 21 are abutted by a ring 23 which is moved by hydraulic devices 22. The wedges cause shafts 25 to project against a lower part of the tool-holder 20 to move the latter out of the socket. The socket body and holder 20 have co-operating gear teeth 28, 29.
