Abstract
1377532 Phase-shifters VARIAN ASSOCIATES 25 Jan 1972 [28 Jan 1971 6 Dec 1971] 21805/74 Divided out of 1377531 Heading H1W A reflective phase-shifter for a rectangular waveguide 13 comprises a reflective element 16 mounted on an L-shaped rotatable support 17 which extends through the broad wall 14 of the guide. The element 16 is adjustable, e.g. through an arc of 90 degrees in a plane parallel to the broad wall 14 about the central position shown in which it lies parallel to the major axis of the guide cross-section. The element and support may be made of metal or of a dielectric material, e.g. alumina or beryllia. In a modification, the element 16 is of spherical form. The vertical shaft 18 of the support 17 extends through a hermetic seal comprising a rubber O-ring 27 held between screw-threaded collar 29 and cap 28.
