Abstract

Class 39 (1): [Also in Group XL (b)] A metallic surround having a tunedaperture sealed by a piece of ceramic material for use in connecting, e.g. a wave-guide to a cavity resonator of a magnetron or a klystron or one resonator to another has a concave surface on the side 13 exposed to a low pressure and on its high pressure side 14. a surface which is so shaped that the material is progressively thicker from its central part to its peripheral edges. The side 14 may be plane, as shown, or convex (Fig. 3, not shown). Each of the surfaces may be spherical. The ceramic material may be a non-porous alumina ceramic, e.g. " Frequentite " or " Sintox " (Registered Trade Marks) or a zirconia ceramic. The apertures in the metallic surround may be circular, oval or rectangular.
