1399043 Microwave filters AMANA REFRIGERATION Inc 24 April 1973 [13 June 1972] 19227/73 Heading H1W [Also in Division H5] A microwave heating apparatus comprises an enclosure, a waveguide 42, a microwave source having a predetermined fundamental operating frequency and a low pass filter 58 formed by a conductive body with a series of ribs spaced in the direction of propagation within the waveguide providing a stop band whose lower cutoff frequency is above the predetermined frequency but below the harmonics thereof. The filter is of aluminium. The ribs may be uniformly or non-uniformly spaced; they extend symmetrically on either side of a central body member (84, Fig. 3, not shown); they may be of equal or unequal heights (Fig. 5, not shown) above (and below) the central body.
