Abstract

1,010,922. Microwave heating. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. Oct. 22, 1962 [Oct. 25, 1961], No. 39876/62. Heading H5H. The feed aperture 10 of a microwave oven is surrounded by a metal sealing frame 19 which abuts against a metal door 14, when the latter is closed, and by an outer sealing frame 20 mounted either on the door or on the oven wall, and comprising a U.H.F. energy absorbent powder distributed in a dielectric material. The frame 20 preferably comprises 20 to 40% by weight of powdered graphite in a synthetic resin or ceramic material, and may be provided with a microswitch comprising a resilient pin which switches the oven out of circuit when any gap between frame 20 and door 14 becomes too large. As shown, slits 22 are provided in a metal support 21 for frame 20, for outlet of any energy passing through frame 20 into metal housing 1. Dielectric sealing frames may be provided both on the oven wall and on the door.
