Abstract

1376414 Pivoted armature transducers STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd 1 March 1973 9960/73 Heading H4J An eleotroacoustic transducer, e.g. a receiver or microphone, has a U-shaped yoke 1 (Fig. 2) of magnetically soft material. An armature 4 of magnetically soft material is pivoted about the free end of a leg 2. Leg 2 is a permanent magnet or other biasing magnetic flux source. A speech coil 3 is mounted on the yoke 1. An extension 8 on one side of the armature 4 carries a connecting rod 9. A diaphragm 10 is connected by the rod 9 to the armature 4 and is located on the opposite side of the yoke from that on which the armature is mounted. The armature pivot is formed by a ridge 7 or by two closely adjacent short ridges. The rod 9 is attached to the diaphragm 10 by forcing the rod end through the diaphragm 10 and then gluing or otherwise securing in place.
