Abstract

1426391 Moving magnet transducer GENERAL ELECTRIC CO 20 June 1973 [22 June 1972] 29289/73 Heading H4J Transducer for converting electric signals to an acoustical output comprises a U-shaped core 13 of magnetically permeable material carrying a stationary coil 14 and provided with polepieces 16 defining a gap which is bridged by a pad 15 of resilient material. A permanent magnet 11 is positioned on the pad to move in response to the electric field produced by the signal currents in coil 14. Preferably the permanent magnet is a cobalt rare earth magnet, such as a cobalt samarium magnet. The magnet is coupled to drive a diaphragm 10.
