Abstract
1,034,353. Electric clocks. H. BAUMER. Jan. 7, 1963 [Jan. 8, 1962], No. 679/63. Heading G3T. [Also in Division H2] An electric clock drive comprises a tuning fork 10 electro-magnetically maintained in known manner by energizing means 13, 14, 17. The fork carries a body 15 of magnetic material movable in an air gap 20 between polepieces 23, 24 of a permeable stator providing two flux paths which are common to opposed polepieces 27, 29 between. which a magnetized rotor is rotatable in step with the fork, this rotor being adapted to drive the time train. The common flux path is completed through the body 15 by an extension 28 of the polepiece 29. The two paths are permanently magnetized in opposite directions by magnets 21, 22. The polepieces 27, 29 are notched to provide a number of angularly spaced poles as shown, the rotor poles being alternately of opposite polarity and having a spacing half that of the driving poles. The polepieces 23, 24 are adjustable by screws 25, 26 to vary the gap 20. In another embodiment, the body 15 is magnetized instead of the stator and the shape of the extension 28 is modified.
