1373867 Hydraulic pulse generators; reciprocating pumps VSESOJUZNY NAUCHNOISSLEDOVATELSKY KONSTRUKTORSKY 1 TEKHNOLOGICHESKY INSTITUT GIDROMASHINOSTROENIA 18 Oct 1972 47990/72 Heading F1A and F1P In a hydraulic pulse generator comprising a spring-loaded piston 7, Fig. 1, driven by an eccentric 4, fluid passes through an axial hole in the piston from a reservoir in the body 1 to make up any losses during the return stroke when an annular ring on a valve 16 is moved away from the piston end face by a spring 19. During the compression stroke the valve 16 is moved towards the piston by the eccentric 4 and when the ring abuts the piston the latter is moved against the spring 15. If the output pressure rises undesirably the piston moves further to the left away from the sealing ring on the valve because the effective area of the piston is less than that . enclosed by the sealing ring. The ratio of these areas is between 0.99: 1 and 0.66: 1. In a second embodiment, Fig. 3, for providing small pulsating supplies, both piston and cylinder are of stepped form and a bore 20 connects the cylinder 6 with the reservoir. Pulses are transmitted through an orifice 10. The device may be used to drive a diaphragm pump or an actuator.
