Abstract
1373225 Magnetic reed contact units FUJITSU Ltd 10 Dec 1971 [11 Dec 1970] 57609/71 Heading H1N In order to ensure that the contacts of a sealed magnetic reed contact unit open and close at substantially the same flux values, the main air gap is arranged to change in area rather than length. Fig. 4, shows the ends of two reeds 41, 43 normally out of alignment with an air gap t between them. When subjected to a magnetic field the reeds 41, 43 tend to align and bring non-magnetic contacts 42, 44 into engagement. The contact gap X 2 is less than the normal displacement between the centres of the reed ends so that member 42 which is of spring material bends to give a wiping action. The member 42 may be cranked to provide a larger contact gap (Fig. 5b, not shown), or may be an integral part 822 of a reed 812 (Fig. 8d). Thus providing a part which is directly overlapping the other contact and also provides a variable air gap. The contact end may be divided (Fig. 8e, not shown).
