Abstract
1330357 Contact units for switches M MARTELLI 31 Dec 1970 [9 Jan 1970] 61921/70 Heading H1N The ferromagnetic reeds of a sealed magnetic reed contact unit are provided with co-operating non-magnetic contact buttons 37, 39 or 53, 57 mounted on surfaces of the ferromagnetic reed which when the buttons are in engagement are further apart than other faces of the reeds. Fig. 7 shows such an arrangement with one of buttons 37 in a recess 35A in the reed 35 so that the minimum air gaps are at I1, I2. Both reeds may be recessed to accommodate respective buttons in narrow necked recesses (Fig. 8, not shown) and the surfaces of the reeds in the minimum air gaps may be inclined with respect to the plane lying tangential to the buttons at their point of contact (Fig. 9). This contact arrangement can be incorporated in units such as that of Fig. 2 with ferromagnetic members 13, 15 or resilient members 13E, 15E or arrangements where and/or the ferromagnetic members 23, 25 (Fig. 5) are mounted on resilient members 23E, 25E mounted at the same end of the contact unit.
