Abstract

1372045 Knitting-machines VYZKUMNY A VYVOJOVY USTAV ZAVODU VSEOBECNEHO STROJIRENSTVI 1 Oct 1971 45894/71 Heading D1C [Also in Division H1) Knitting instruments are selected at a station by a magnetic arrangement comprising a permanent magnet 21 having pole pieces 22, 23 bridged by a magnetic shunt 24 which is surrounded by a coil 25. When the coil is selectively energised the field of the magnet 21 is weakened so that instruments 27 forced against it by cam 32 are permitted to spring away. Selection is made at stations A, B for instruments to knit and tuck respectively. The magnet 21 may extend between the two stations. A portion of the coil generated flux is dispersed through the permanent magnet. The shunt 24 comprises a screw with a stepped diameter pin 31 fitting into a hole 30 in pole piece 23. Cover pole pieces 28a-c are provided for, or integral with, the pole pieces 22, 23. The instruments are maintained at a distance # from the poles by a shim 26 of hard material e.g. sapphire.
