Abstract

1294472 Ignition systems SIEMENS AG 10 Dec 1969 [10 Dec 1968] 60395/69 Heading F1B [Also in Division G1] A pulse generating device for an ignition system comprises a magnet 3, a yoke of magnetic material 6,9,10,11 arranged so that magnetic flux can pass between it and one pole of the magnet and an arrangement of salient pole pieces 5,15 which is arranged so that magnetic flux can pass between it and the other pole of the magnet and which is movable with respect to the yoke so that each pole piece is presented to successive portions of the yoke. The magnetic flux can pass along paths comprising the yoke portions and a magnetic circuit comprising the pole piece arrangement, the yoke and the permanent magnet is formed, there being a magnetic field dependent element 13 arranged in one of the paths so that at times when a pole piece is presented to the yoke portion corresponding to the one path more magnetic flux flows through the element than at other times. There is always at least one of the pole pieces presented to the yoke so that at the other times the magnetic flux can follow a path not including the element, whereby when the pole-piece arrangement is moved the element undergoes a cyclic change in magnetic flux received but the magnetic circuit remains complete. In a modification (not shown) the field dependent element is arranged on the inner surface of an annular projection on a cup shaped yoke.
