The support layer has a linear deformation of less than 0.005 per cent and an average micro-irregularity of less than 0.01 Ám. It may be of polyester, polystyrene or acetyl cellulose. The photo-sensitive layer may be formed from a composition comprising gelatin, pigment, soap, glycerine, ethyl alcohol, ammonium monochromate, tartaric or citric acid and tartrazine. After exposure, the photosensitive layer is transferred from the support layer to a plate, the latent image is developed in warm water, and the plate is etched.
