Abstract
1,192,797. Photographic antihalation layers. EASTMAN KODAK CO. Sept. 14, 1967 [Sept. 16, 1966], No. 41929/67. Addition to 1,115,935. Heading G2C. The binder for a photographic antihalation layer carried on a film support, which may carry on the opposite side a light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer, comprises a cellulose ester having tetrahydrophthalate or hexahydrophthalate groups and a copolymer of an alkyl methacrylate and methacrylic acid. The antihalation layer is removed when the film is treated in an alkaline developer bath. The light-absorbing substance, which may be carbon black or a dye, may be added to a solution of the binder before coating, or may be incorporated into the layer after coating by bathing the latter in a dye solution.
