Abstract

1369066 Cases for couplings BUNKER RAMO CORP 18 Oct 1971 [21 Jan 1971] 48425/71 Heading H2E A housing has a bottom half 10, in which multi-way connectors are fitted, in any combination of male and female. Female or male counterpart cable connectors are held in mated position by a lid 12. Where the fixed connector is male and the cable connector female (centre connectors in Fig. 5), the lid 12 touches or nearly touches the shell 70 of the cable connector. Where the cable connector is male (outer connectors in Fig. 5) it is of lower height, and spacers 44 are fitted between its shell and the lid. Spacers 44 are retained in slots 46 in ribs 40 in lid 12, as required, according to the positions of male and female connectors. Unrequired spacers are stored in slots 42. The lid 12 is fixed to the bottom half 10 by hooks 54, 56 at one end, where the greatest stresses occur if the cables are jerked. At the other end, the lid is held on by a lug (60, Fig. 3, not shown) on the bottom half which latches with a slot 58 in the resilient lid, in such a way that the lid can be put on without any tools and levered off with a screwdriver. The housing is of tough plastics, such as polystyrene. The fixed connectors are held to the base by lugs (28, 30) and pins (32, Fig. 1, not shown).
