Abstract
1311281 Two-part couplings AMPHENOL Ltd 13 April 1970 [13 Jan 1969] 1972/69 Heading H2E An electrical connector 14 suitable for mounting on a wall, e.g. for recording meter readings (Fig. 1, not shown) comprises a base portion having a contact carrying boss 23, and a lid 19 hinged to the base and having a snap-fastening closure, the hinge of the lid including a lost motion arrangement to enable the lid to move bodily in a direction at right angles to the base during closure. As shown the lid is hinged to posts 25, 26 the hinge pins engaging in slots therein which allow the necessary freedom of movement. To close the lid it is swung into position and pushed on to the boss, projections 30, 31 and 32 snapping over a flange 33. A pad 34 of resilient insulating material on the inside of the lid completes the seal. Slots 21, 22 are provided on the lid so that it can only be readily opened with the correct twopronged tool. The boss may have asymmetrically disposed slots co-operating with pins on plug 18 for correct mating. In another embodiment (Figs. 12 to 18) not shown, the lid snaps on to the base itself.
