Abstract
1368576 Thermal switches M VIDALENQ 25 Jan 1972 [26 Jan 1971] 3415/72 Heading H1N A thermal cut-out comprises portions 1 and 11 provided with contacts 16 and 12 biased to open position and held closed by a locking device 33, 35 release of which to allow contacts 16, 12 to open is carried out by over-centre thermally responsive means 42 and which is inaccessible from the exterior of the cut-out and which prevents reclosing of contacts 16, 12 as long as it has not been reset. Contact carrier 11 is urged upwards to open contacts 12, 16 by spring 23 but is restrained by rod 25 whose lower end 29 engages sliding block 33 urged to the right by spring 39 but prevented from moving by latch 35. When bimetal disc 42 snaps over it pivots latch 35 clockwise about pivot 36 and releases block 33 which slides to the right freeing rod 25 so that carrier 11 can move upwards. After block 33 has moved to the right, portion 41 of block 33 lies beneath rod 25 to prevent it being moved downwards until locking device 33, 35 has been reset. There are three sets of contacts 16, 12 in the cut-out.
