Abstract
136,765. Royce, F. H., and Rolls-Royce, Ltd. May 30, 1919. Indicating.- Failure of the lubrication of an engine is indicated by the knocking in a ratchet clutch between a starting-motor and the engine, the clutch being normally disengaged by means acted upon by the pressure in the lubricating- system. The clutch member e<1> is moved into engagement with the member c by a spring g<2> and a lever g bearing against a lever h provided with a lighter spring h<3>. When the engine is running, the lever g is moved about its pivot g' by a piston f<1> in communication with the lubricating pump f<6> and the clutch is disengaged by the lever h and spring h<3>. The piston f<1> controls ports and serves as a relief valve for the lubricating-system.
