Abstract

1367021 Cathode-ray tubes; travelling wave tubes TEKTRONIX Inc 4 Jan 1972 [24 Feb 1971] 221/72 Heading H1D A cathode-ray tube has a delay line type deflection system comprising at least one helix 50 along the beam path 24 having a plurality of turns, at least some of said turns having a deflector portion immediately adjacent the beam of a different width from those more remote from said beam. Preferably the width and spacing of the turns are constant near the beam while remote from the beam the width of the turns increases with a corresponding decrease in the spacing. Where two helices are provided they can diverge in the beam direction and are wound in the same sense. Plates 56, 58 are located to overlie both helices on respective sides thereof and the spacing between the plates and the helices can be adjusted.
